Alex has spent time on the road chasing the music and also time building a home base to return to. She highly believes in the power and healing power that happens when people get together to celebrate the music. This is one of the main reasons she brings her Qoya Offerings to festivals, to bask in the joy of like minded folks who are looking to use movement and music as medicine. GETTING TO KNOW
Alexandria Mosness
WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR YOU TO TEACH QOYA?
Teaching Qoya is a sacred rite to me. Guiding individuals on this journey of Qoya is holy to me. I am honored to step into this role to help others connect back to their bodies. I am no master. I am still learning and growing and becoming me. I believe that is part of my mission of teaching Qoya is showing up exactly as I am in that moment, and in doing so, others can see they can show up as themselves too.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE WHO IS FEELING INSPIRED TO TRY QOYA FOR THE FIRST TIME?
Trust yourself. If you are feeling called to this practice, there is obviously a reason. I don't even think you have to know the reason. There doesn't have to be words to your feelings. Show up and see what occurs. Best case scenario you find a practice that soothes your soul and connects you back to your body. Worst case scenario, you check in with yourself to see if Qoya fits and works for you. If the answer is a no, good job on listening and honoring your body and needs and wants.
