ABOUT

Ashley has had over 23 addresses since birth and very much enjoys following her curiosity. In 2010, she decided she really wanted to work on her phobia of public speaking, so she signed up for improv comedy classes in Austin, TX at Coldtowne Theater. Improv helped Ashley grow so much and introduced so much light into her life. That light created a space for her to feel safe enough to dive deeper into the process of embracing and processing all aspects of herself; the light and the dark. Ashley had also started practicing yoga in 2010, which also helped immensely. Before trying yoga, she had no idea how powerful her own breath could be!

Even though she had found a way to connect more deeply with herself through laughter and breath work, Ashley still did not feel very connected to her body. In 2014, she had moved to Chicago, IL and was looking for movement practices to help keep her from getting cabin fever during her first real winter. On a very fateful day of Googling, she came across Qoya. The practice of Qoya has transformed and continues to transform all aspects of Ashley’s life. It has given her a way to feel deeply connected and attuned to her body and her soul. This practice and the women it has connected her to has made her a true sacred feminine activist. She feels so utterly grateful to have found a way to share her own unique voice through the practice of teaching Qoya.

Ashley lives in Chicago with her husband, two dogs, and two cats. While she considers herself to be an introvert, she will talk at length about her furmily. She will honestly talk at length about any animal you wish, but will especially dig talking about cats. Fun fact: you probably know that a male cat is called a Tom, but did you know a female cat is called a Queen?

GETTING TO KNOW

Ashley Franks

WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR YOU TO TEACH QOYA?

For me, teaching Qoya is a way to enact transformation and growth. I wish this for myself and for others.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE WHO IS FEELING INSPIRED TO TRY QOYA FOR THE FIRST TIME?

Qoya is a very powerful practice and can be a catalyst for change in your life, if that is something you are looking for (or are looking for MORE of). It is also one of the most fun dance parties you will ever have the privilege of attending and you should DEFINITELY try a class!!!
